Julia Hyland is a Midlands based make-up artist with over 10 years experience. Specialising in medical/special effects make-up, historical and alternative fashion make-up as well as fantasy and face/body painting.  Her work has appeared on Channel 4, National Geographic, MTV, VH1 and Zone Horror Channel.
 
She has worked with Michael Jackson at the World Music Awards in 2006, with the world renowned Birmingham Opera, Britain’s Got Talent Tour and with bands Take That, Jonas Brothers and Kiss.  Other work includes Bizarre Magazine, Embarrassing Illnesses, The Clothes Show, Men’s Health Magazine as well as historical documentaries Ancient Plastic Surgery and Helen of Troy.

Julia currently holds a part-time academic post at The University of Birmingham lecturing History of Medicine using Moulage/Medical effects make-up to re-create a variety of medical conditions such as fractures, burns, anthrax, bubonic plague, gangrene, smallpox and syphilis.
